Photo Recap: Midpoint Jump Jam

Back for its second year, the Midpoint Jump Jam went down at Bike Glendhu this past weekend and it just about blew the doors off! (Literally, in this case).

Riders, both pros and groms alike, gathered at the site of the Midpoint Jumps at BG, purpose-built for Brandon Semenuk’s Midpoint film a few years back. The jumps had since fallen into disrepair until last year, when we resurrected them to hold the inaugural Midpoint Jump Jam. And although this year involved less digging, we were still stoked to re-open the jumps to the public once again.

Sunday, March 3rd kicked off with a calm, sunny day. As we drew closer to the 1pm Jam start time however, that famous Wanaka wind picked up, making the jumps extra spicy for our riders. That said, a good crew of go-getters lined up for the Lower Line and dropped in, making the most of a breezy day. And although we had to call it early and head back to Base for a pint and some tunes from DJ Josh Bones, it was still a pretty epic day out!

Here’s some of our favourite shots from photographer Victoria Wells.

Thanks to everyone who came out and joined this event. We made the decision early in the season to keep this event grassroots: no sponsors, no competition; just a bunch of riders getting together and having a good ol’ time.

And once again this year, it was so rad to see the turn-out. Our MTB community is hella talented and we can’t wait to see who stops by next time around. Until then!
