Bike Glendhu Reiews

Here’s what our riders say

"This is an amazing place to go mountain biking. The trails are well kept and well marked. We rented bikes and it was an easy and smooth process. The staff were all awesome and super helpful. Plus the bar at the base is full of great local beers and healthy tasty food to refuel after riding."

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions about our rental bikes?
Explore our FAQS

Do you have any discounts available in collaboration with other local bike parks?

We’ve teamed up with our mates at Cardrona Bike Park to give you the best of Wanaka on two wheels this summer. Ride at Bike Glendhu, save at Cardrona. Grab 15% off either a day lift pass or their lift and rental packages.

How to redeem: show the Cardrona team your Bike Glendhu booking in person or reach out via email.

What happens if it rains on the day of my rental?

If the park is closed due to weather or unsafe trail conditions, contact us and we’ll do our best to reschedule your rental for another day within the same season. If you’re unable to ride another day, bike rentals are refundable.

What’s the difference between renting an e-bike and a standard mountain bike?

E-bikes (like the Trek Rail 7 or 8) give you pedal-assisted power, making it easier to climb and cover more ground in less time. Our analog full-suspension bikes are perfect for riders looking to earn their turns and enjoy the classic trail feel. Both are built for Glendhu’s terrain and maintained by our on-site workshop.

Can I hire an e-bike in Wānaka for trail riding?

Not for general trail riding around Wānaka. Bike Glendhu rentals – including e-bikes – must be used on-site at Bike Glendhu. Our fleet is set up and maintained specifically for our trail network, and rentals are only valid for use within the park. If you’re looking to ride elsewhere in the region, we recommend checking with a local bike shop in town.

Do you offer bike hire and trail access in one place?

Yes—Bike Glendhu offers bike hire and mountain biking passes in one easy location. You can rent a bike and get straight onto the trails from the same spot, with optional pass + rental packages to save time and money.

Is Bike Glendhu a good place for bike hire near Wānaka?

Yes—Bike Glendhu is one of the best-rated bike hire destinations in the Wānaka region, with Trek Rail 7 e-bikes, Trek Fuel EXe e-bikes and Trek Fuel 8 trail bikes available for half-day or full-day hire. Rentals are paired with access to over 40km of purpose-built trails for all levels.

Can kids rent bikes too?

Yes – children’s and youth-sized bikes are available for riders aged 4+ (114cm+) All riders must be confident on two wheels and able to ride on beginner MTB terrain.

Are helmets and gear included with my rental?

Yes! Every rental includes a Sweet Protection helmet at no extra charge. You can also add on knee pads during the checkout process.

How long is a rental valid for?

All standard bike rentals are valid for a 4-hour ride window, timed from your check-in at Base 334. If you’re planning a longer day out, contact us to request a full-day hire, subject to availability.

Do I need to book my bike rental in advance?

You don’t have to, but we strongly recommend it – especially on weekends, holidays, and during peak riding periods. Booking online in advance ensures you get the right size and model, and helps us have your bike prepped and ready when you arrive.

Do rentals include a park pass?

No, bike rentals do not include a Bike Glendhu park pass. You’ll need to purchase a pass separately, or bundle your pass + rental together with one of our value-packed packages like Pass & Pedal or 4 Hours of Power (available on the Packages page, online only).

What types of bikes can I rent at Bike Glendhu?

Bike Glendhu offers a top-tier rental fleet of Trek mountain bikes, including the Trek Rail 7 & 8 e-bike, the Trek Fuel EXe lightweight e-bike and Trek Fuel EX 8 full-suspension trail bikes. Whether you’re riding for power-assisted laps or pure analog trail flow, we’ve got a premium option for you.
