Who needs a chairlift or a gondola when you’ve got Can-Am shuttles? With Bike Glendhu’s Falcon’s Nest Boost and Unlimited Can-Am sessions, the more peeps you get in the buggy, the cheaper your ride becomes (and it’s arguably less pricey than a drive over the hill and a lift pass).
But let’s not get too caught up in the money. Here are all the reasons why a Can-Am shuttle is one of the best way to get around Bike Glendhu.
WHAT IS A CAN-AM ANYWAY?
A Can-Am is a side-by-side offroad vehicle, designed to get through all types of terrain (and believe us when we say that we’ve tested it, and it’s always floated like a cloud over even the most stubborn obstacles).
At Bike Glendhu, we have two Can-Am Defenders. Each allows us to transport five riders + a driver and everyone’s bikes all around the mountain. We also use these vehicles for first aid and to help our trail and maintenance crew get around.
THE FALCON’S NEST BOOST
While stunning, the climb to Falcon’s Nest is a big ride that can tire out even the most hearty of riders – especially if you’re on an analogue bike (you e-bikers should have nooo worries!). That’s where our Can-Am Boost comes in. With a one-way trip from Base 334 to the summit of Bike Glendhu you can experience the incredible views of the Motatapu Valley, Glendhu Bay and Aspiring Valley – all without the uphill climb.
When you’re done rubbing your eyes in disbelief, take the long way down and indulge in the fruits of your non-labour with epic flow and natural tech lines.
The Falcon’s Nest boost is a $45/rider, single-ride only trip, so you’ll be on your own to pedal for the rest of the day. But, if you’re wanting a little more shuttle time…
UNLIMITED CAN-AM SESSIONS
This is where the real value of a Can-Am shuttle comes in. With a 2- or 3-hour Unlimited Can-Am session, you’re free to ride to your heart’s content for as long as time allows.
A 2-hour Unlimited session is $320, while the 3-hour is $480. Now, before you start balking at the cost, keep in mind – unlike the Falcon’s Nest Boost, these prices are for the whole shuttle, not per person.
Let’s do some quick math here. If we have five riders in the shuttle for two hours, evenly splitting the $320 cost; well, that’s only $64 per rider! And doing the same math for three hours comes out to only $96 per rider. See, who said math couldn’t be fun.
So, picture this. You and four mates, a whole shuttle to yourself, a driver to take you wherever you want to go and 1,000 hectares of bike park to explore. All that’s left now is how fast you go – because that’ll help you get in as many laps in as possible. All for roughly the same cost or less than a lift-accessed park pass.
